I'm Still Alive After Exams

Hey everyone,

I finished my exams on Tuesday and yes I'm still alive (even after exams). I found out my CPSC mark just a couple of days ago, and to be honest, I wasn't very happy about it. It was lower than I expected. But then there's my PHIL mark that made up almost everything. Either way, it's the Christmas Holidays and I don't want to spoil it because of school!

Last Saturday I went to see the dentist, and apparently my wisdom teeth are growing out. It's not quite out and it's still under the gums. They say if the roots of the teeth touches the nerves in my gums, it's going to be a lot of pain. So the dentist suggested me to get to removed. And today, I went to see the guy who removes wisdom teeth and they said that it's fast procedure. I could have done it today, but if I did, I wouldn't be able to eat anything for Christmas!

So we didn't end up getting them out yet. Afterwards, we went to SuperStore since the malls haven't opened yet. It was still really early. So my mom and I shopped for Christmas decorations! We bought these inflatable decorations that you put on your front lawn. One Rudolf popping in and out of the gift box (yes, it's "animated"). And a carousel that is also animated! It's awesome. I picked out the carousel . However, after setting it up and having it set themselves up at night, the carousel was kind of not inflating properly, so my mom and I are going to have to bring it back to SuperStore and exchange for a new one! If you get a chance to come by my house, be sure to turn your heads and look at my lawn!

Miss and Diss - 2006F

I've been so busy this term that I almost forgot that yesterday was the last day of school. And you know what that means! Juli's MISS AND DISS!! Not only is this Miss and Diss keeps a nice log for me of which teacher is good or bad, but it also helps you decide who you would like to teach you for the classes that you want to take too! So here we go:

ASTR 101(Brett Gladman): This class was not what I expected. There was too much reading and the lectures are not really "lectures" they were more like "seminars" because he just shows us some astronomy pictures and talks about it. I had no idea how to take notes for this class. Sure, he was smart, but I don't think he knew the correct way of presenting this type of material to us. This course was just all over the place. The labs were alright, but my lab TA marked a lot harder than the other lab TAs. She was just picky took marks off for the dumbest things. Another thing about this course is that the teacher just talks about the theories and stuff during the lectures and don't do any examples during class, but all the assignments deal with calculations.

CPSC 213 (George Tsiknis): I know I've rated George before, but I feel like I need to rate him again since this is a completely different course. This is the first time that he taught this course, and to be honest, he's not really good at it. He got confused almost everytime he tried to explain a new concept to us. There was only one TA in the lab and I felt that there was not enough. There are these people completing their second degree in computer science (AKA. "TA hoggers") in the lab that just wants the TA to sit beside them, hold their hand, and walk them through the entire assignment.

MATH 200(Kerstin Wielage): Kerstin was really smart, except she makes stupid mistakes at times when she writes her notes on the blackboard because she copies them off of this piece of paper that she brings with her. She's willing to make office hour appointments with you most of the time. The course was kind of confusing itself. But it shouldn't be anything that you have never seen before (differentiation/integration). There were 4 midterms in total, and they take the three best of the four midterms. So it's not too bad in the end.

PHIL 220 (Paul Bartha): The course itself was easy since I have had previous experiences with CPSC 121. This course is called "Symbolic Logic I". I'm guessing there's a II as well. This course was quite easy itself until the second part. It became complicated, but it was still fun. I loved doing the proofs, they were like puzzles that I'd do for fun. The teacher was quite boring though. He presented information that was clear with notes and verbally. He was an extremely good teacher for this course but can put you to sleep by his boring voice.
