Miss and Diss - 2006S

And summer school is finally over. I just finished writing the final exam on Friday. This class is probably going to be one of my lowest marks... but it doesn't matter anymore. It's all over and it's time for another Miss and Diss on this blog!

ENGL 110 (Gillian Jerome) - On the first day of class, it was quite intimidating but I don't remember what she actually did that made it English 110 sound so scary. Because not everybody in the class took English 112, not everybody knows how to do the MLA citations. She believes that English 112 should be the prerequisite of English 110; however, when it comes to writing techniques such as writing "This essay will..." and "I will..." she doesn't want to ever see these in her class. Gillian gives me the impression that she's kind of lazy. She lets us out of class early most of the nights and she didn't even instruct class for the last day. On the other hand, Gillian can be a really cool teacher if she wanted to. There was one class where she decided for us to have class outdoors because it was such a nice day. And on our last day of class, she decided to have a mini potluck party that took up one hour of our lecture time. Speaking of which, ALEX, GIVE ME BACK MY TIMBITS!!!

Lance Bass: I'm Gay.

Yesterday morning, I woke up to Z95.3 at around 8 o' clock. All morning, the two hosts (I forgot their names) was talking about how Lance Bass is gay. As soon as I heard the news, I was like "What?! That can't be!" I quickly got up and looked all over the internet (PerezHilton.com - I'm Gay: Interview, The Forstylocks Highlights) for more information and well... it's true. What a surprising news to wake up to, eh?

I don't know whether I should be happy for him for finally coming out of the closet and admitting to the public that he's gay so that he doesn't have to hide it anymore, or that I should be heart broken. He was my favorite within the band Nsync and I just never even thought that he is gay. Don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against gay people. And I want to make this really clear before people start assuming that I'm a homophobic again. The reason why I'm heart broken is basically now that I know that he's gay, I can't have him anymore because I'm a girl.

My cousin, Emily and I use to be *crazy* over Lance Bass. I even had the email address LanceLover615@hotmail.com but because you know, people grow up, and I eventually grew out of it as well. Emily and I use to fight over him all the time. She would say that I'm not good enough for him and everything and we'd just continuously insult eachother. Of course, I never win. He was the real reason for why my cousin and I never got a long. And now that he's expressed himself explicitly that he's gay, that just means that we were fighting for nothing all along.

"There's no stars tonight..."

[After walking around at the Chinese Night Market, JULI and HANSON walks back to their car and sits there while thinking of the next place to go. HANSON opens the sunroof leaving the window part of the sunroof unopened. JULI looks up into the sky.]

JULI: There's no stars tonight...

[HANSON looks at JULI funny]: That's because we're under a bridge.

JULI: Heh... ^_^"

Objective "Truth" vs. "Perceived" Reality

We were required to write something like this in my English class as a writing exercise. The question was, has there ever been a time where we were wrong about something, but we didn't know it at first. I thought that this was a funny story, so that's why I decided to post it:

One day, I was arguing with Alex; but then again, we always argue. It was the first day of summer school and we were walking up the stairs to the third floor where our class is held. Alex turned to me and said, "hey, your English 112 class was on this floor!" I replied back that it wasn't and that it was really on the second floor. I got really annoyed with him later on because he kept on repeating it, and I just kept thinking "who would know my schedule better than me".

Right before class the next day, when he got me to show him where my English 112 classroom really was, I realized that it was really on the third floor. I felt really dumb and at the same time freaked out because Alex really does know my schedule better than me.

Manning Park 2006

This year for annual "camping" we went to the Manning Park Resort. I don't think I told everyone this, but Hanson came with us this year too!! I missed last year's trip because I didn't have fun the year before (when we went to Princeton). The reason I went this year was all because I was able to convince Hanson to come with us. However, there were still pros and cons about this year's trip.

When we got to the Manning Park Resort, we thought that our cabins were just as nice as the log houses they had as the resort's welcome center and restaurant. However, our cabin ended up to be on the other side of the 6 lane highway and all the activities such as basketball, volleyball, swimming and tennis were on the side where the welcome center is.

On the first day there, we didn't really do much because we weren't able to find out where our cabin was until Uncle Paul got there. He had all the reservation stuff. So when we got there, we took up all our baggage and unpacked them first. Then we divided into different rooms. The washrooms were really weird. There were 3 floors in total in the cabin, and then 1 washroom per floor. The washrooms were like public washrooms, once you're through the doors, there were stalls.

On the second day, we checked out what there is to do. We went up onto the mountain and looked at scenery. And then we went down to the lake to see what there is to do there and find out the price to rent canoes. However, we didn't go play on canoes until the third day. A group of people went in together for hot pot at night, and they said that because they bought so much stuff, they asked my family including Hanson to join in!

On the third day, I was kind of upset because it seemed like the weekend passed by so fast. We didn't go out onto the lake until later in the afternoon because it was just too hot outside. At first Hanson and I didn't go canoeing because there weren't enough people who were interested. But then afterwards, some people decided to give up their canoe to give everyone a chance to play. At night, after a BBQ dinner, Hanson and I got my dad to drive us over to the other side of the highway to play tennis. However, we were whacking more mosquitoes than tennis balls. At first, we were planning on playing for 1.5 hours, but then we got tired after half an hour, so Hanson and I *ran* back to our cabin across the 6 lane highway.

And today, my parents woke up early to start packing. Then I woke up, brushed my teeth, and then went into Hanson bedroom to wake him up like every other morning we were there. I'm gonna miss these moments and I wish that every morning could be like this.

I posted some pictures in my photo album. Enjoy!
