Miss and Diss - 2006W

Ok everybody! Time for another Miss and Diss, this time for 2005 Winter Semester's 2nd term which I named 2006W instead because let's face it - it's 2006 and we're all growing a year older. I can't believe another term is over... and exams are here again!

CPSC 121 (Patrice Belleville) - CPSC 121 was a hard class. While listening to some of my older peers talk about it, the teachers apparently combined two classes into one, which resulted in CPSC 121 (no wonder it was so hard). Patrice was fairly good at explaining concepts. However, I wish we spent more time on certain topics instead of just skimming through it. Also, the class gave out assignments every week, which was very overwhelming. Hanson has warned me about this teacher because he's had him for some 3rd year course before. He told me that his office was filled with B.O. and it almost made him pass out as soon as he walked into the room. Hanson was right. It does smell bad in there. Talk about lack of deodorant.

CPSC 211 (George Tsiknis) - George was ok, I guess. At least he didn't smell bad. He had this really strong greek accent, I believe, which made him kind of hard to understand. Also, the fact that he spoke so fast didn't quite help either. This class wasn't so hard in terms of the material covered until near the end. I really have to study streams and threads a bit more before the final. George was pretty funny in class. Because our class wasn't very responsive to his questions, George was always asking us whether or not it was because we hated him or something. Poor George; he tried so hard.

ENGL 112 (Lorcan Fox) - I believe I should crown Lorcan Fox to be my favourite teacher of the term. I remember in high school, English was always my worst course. But once I arrived to university, English is like my best course! It's weird. But anyway, I was so reluctant to taking English. However, after getting a mark back for something that we have done in-class, I realized "hey, this isn't that hard!" Lorcan Fox was an interesting teacher. I wanted to take my other English class with him (ENGL 110) during the summer, but his class was the first one that got filled up. So, I was out of luck

MATH 101 (Kalle Karu) - KK wasn't as bad as what Alex said. But I hope I'll never get him again. There were times where it seemed like he didn't know what he was doing. MATH 101 was probably at the same difficulty level as MATH 180. However, I felt that I understood more in MATH 101 despite how my marks don't show it. I've actually failed a couple of quizzes. Dumb as he was, KK made our quizzes out of 5, each mark they took off was 20% and there are no half marks given. It was horrible. I kept on bugging him about it to make the quizzes worth more, but he said that he's making it out of 5 so the TAs don't have to spend as much time marking it. What BS, all the quizzes from the other sections of MATH 101 are out of 10 marks.

lol. Stefan said KK was sort of good. I dunno... I never really paid much attention to the notes... I copied them off stefan. But yeah... KK and CP are 2 math teachers you don't ever want to have again.
